Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, (ACOA), develops and administers a wide variety of business assistance programs throughout the Region. With the emergence of e-business as an integral part of the business process, and with feedback from about 400 owner/ managers of small and medium sized business in Nova Scotia, ACOA decided to help the province meet business development objectives by helping SMEs enhance their export capabilities through the effective use of e-business techniques.
Novus was commissioned to design a program, later named eXPORT, to meet this objective. It focussed on providing successful applicants with 40 hours of one-on-one consulting assistance aimed coaching clients to identify and/or expand export market opportunities, and to develop a customized export market and e-business strategy and plan. Novus conducted a program pilot project, the success of which resulted in ACOA rolling the program out across the Province and expanding it to include three other modules, now operating under the Export Market Mentoring Program.Case Study
